This time of year, families and friends will be making choices about whether or not to gather for celebrations, game days or other seasonal events. Here’s what we know: Gathering in groups—even with people we know—may spread COVID-19. The more people we interact with at a gathering and the longer that interaction lasts, the higher the risk of becoming infected.

In Washington and around the world, we are all in this together. Let them know that social distancing does not have to mean social isolation. Encourage them to go outside – as long as they stay 6 feet away from others. Help your loved ones write letters, email friends and family, and try video chatting.

Reassure them that you are there for them.
