Tracking PPE Distribution

PPE Data

The state is transitioning to a new system for tracking PPE data. Information in the dashboard below, which is current as of Dec. 28, 2020, will remain static until the project is complete.

View the most recent PPE data metrics through April 13, 2021.

The state has distributed more than 180 million pieces of PPE across Washington.

Purchases

Purchases are the primary way the state has secured PPE. Donations make up about 2 percent of PPE received. Arrival time for orders can range from days to weeks. For three key PPE items - gloves, gowns, and surgical masks – state purchases and donations make up about 99 percent of items received, with the Strategic National Stockpile and other federal supplies making up less than 1 percent. For a fourth key PPE item, Washington purchased more than 2 million N95 respirators under a cost-sharing agreement with FEMA, bringing numbers reflected in the federal supply to 6 percent.

Current data on ventilator receipt and distribution is no longer available within this dashboard due to a separate system for purchase and distribution of this item.

Retooled manufacturers

Local companies have come on-line to ramp up their production capacities and produce items. So far:

  • More than 100 Washington manufacturers have re-tooled.
  • State purchasing from seven manufacturers for respirator and surgical masks, hand sanitizer and face shields.
  • Other retooled companies are selling items directly to hospitals and other local entities.
